Shape places that inspire. Grow your career with an award-winning team.

Place Design Group is looking for a talented and motivated Landscape Architect to join our award-winning Sydney studio in Waterloo.  This is an opportunity to work within a collaborative, design-focused team delivering landscapes and public spaces that respond to people, place, Country and contribute meaningfully to the future of our cities and communities.  You will contribute to projects from early ideas and concept design through to detailed documentation and delivery. Working alongside experienced landscape architects, urban designers and planners, you will help turn strong design thinking into thoughtful, enduring and buildable outcomes.

We are looking for someone who is curious, engaged and ready to contribute. Someone who cares about the quality of their work, enjoys working with others and wants to continue developing their design and technical capability. You will be encouraged to bring your own perspective to the work, ask questions and take increasing ownership as your experience develops.

What You Will Do

As a Landscape Architect in our Sydney Design team, you will contribute across a diverse portfolio of public realm, open space, mixed-use, community and city-shaping projects.  Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to site analysis, design thinking and project narratives
  • Preparing concept designs and communicating ideas through clear, compelling graphics
  • Developing landscape designs from concept through to detailed resolution
  • Preparing coordinated design development and construction documentation packages
  • Working closely with clients, consultants and internal multidisciplinary teams
  • Participating in design reviews, workshops and project meetings
  • Supporting the delivery of high-quality, people-centred and environmentally responsive outcomes

About You

You are a thoughtful and ambitious designer with a strong foundation in landscape architecture and an interest in how design can positively influence everyday life.

You will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture
  • A minimum of two years’ professional experience
  • Experience working within the Australian landscape architecture industry
  • Strong design, visual communication and graphic presentation skills
  • Experience preparing coordinated design development and construction documentation
  • An understanding of materials, planting, landscape systems and construction detailing
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage your time, work collaboratively and take initiative
  • Full working rights in Australia

Experience using Revit and working within BIM systems and workflows would be advantageous but is not essential.  Above all, we value people who are generous collaborators, committed to design quality and motivated to keep learning.
