Place Design Group has appointed respected planning leader Brad Williams as Planning Principal in its Sunshine Coast studio, reinforcing the practice’s commitment to one of Queensland's fastest-growing regions.

The appointment responds to continued growth across South East Queensland and supports a more integrated approach to planning and design.

Place Design Group CEO Beth Toon said Brad’s appointment demonstrated the practice’s commitment to local insight and collaborative leadership.

“Brad brings a deep understanding of the Sunshine Coast and a genuine connection to the people and places that make the region unique”, Beth says.  “We have a long history on the Sunshine Coast, and it is exciting to build on that legacy with Brad’s extensive experience across major projects, industry partnerships and planning leadership.  His appointment further strengthens our planning capability and our ability to deliver integrated outcomes across the region”.

Brad joins Place with more than 30 years of industry experience, having led major projects and teams across SEQ.

In addition to his project expertise, he has played a significant leadership role within the property and development industry, including almost a decade on the Board of Directors of the Sunshine Coast Business Council and nine years on the Sunshine Coast Committee of the Property Council of Australia.

He will work alongside Design Director James Birrell, and Planning Directors Shaun Munday, Amanda Taylor and Angus Green, contributing to a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach across the practice.

“I’ve long admired Place Design Group for its professionalism, the quality of its projects, and its collaborative ownership and leadership structure,” Brad said.

“Joining the Place team at this stage of my career presents an exciting opportunity to broaden my impact within the planning and development industry while contributing to the continued growth of the region and supporting outcomes that respond to its aspirations and character.”

Planning Director, Amanda Taylor, says SEQ is in a period of genuine disruption, “We are seeing significant growth at a pace and scale like no other.  This demands a different kind of thinking. Brad’s appointment strengthens our ability to respond to this, drawing on Place’s deep history in the region while pushing how we deliver for the communities and projects shaping its future”.

Place Design Group has maintained a strong connection to the Sunshine Coast for more than two decades, contributing to many of the region’s defining projects, including the Mooloolaba Foreshore, Maroochydore City Centre, the Aura masterplanned community, and Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Brad’s appointment builds on that legacy, further embedding the practice within the region and supporting its ongoing role in shaping the SEQ’s future.
