Group and developed by one of the China’s most prestigious developers, Vanke, was announced the winner of a Gold Award in Residential Landscape Category at REARD Real Estate Star Design Awards on Saturday.
With only two projects of 532 submissions receiving Gold Awards in the Residential Landscape category, acknowledgment of this project with this accolade is a testament to the high-level design quality that the Place Design Group teams are consistently delivering.
Sue Wang, International Design Director, Place Design Group, and the Chief Designer of this awarding winning project expressed, “In landscape design, we consider the needs of both the developer and the residents. Working closely with our long-term design partners, Vanke, we set the vision early to ensure a connection between the place, and the people using the space; to create an award winning, connected residential community”.
The 22.38-hectare, Bamboo-lined Path and Clouded Mountain project is part of the Seven Sages County precinct of Liang Zhu New Town and is being developed in four stages. Inspired by the natural mountain forests and wild plains, and conceptualised from Chinese artistic spirits “bamboo” and “cloud”, Place Design Group created a large-scale modern living community full of oriental charm with a natural feel.
Ms Wang said “The Bamboo-lined Path and Clouded Mountain project has been designed for the community. Visually, it looks like it is gradually ‘growing’ from the mountains. Seeing how neighbours are interacting with the space – chatting under the bamboo pergola and children jumping cross the wind-shaped stepping stones – it is a true reflection that our design ideas are satisfying residents’ needs.”
When receiving the award, Nemo Hu, Project Director, Place Design Group Shanghai Office, was thrilled with the recognition from the organisers and the judging panel.
Ms Hu said, “Place Design Group has been operating in China for over 17 years and is committed to creating great places for people.”
“The project award win reflects the trend that the industry and market are paying more attention to the users of spaces and the importance that people and place is integral into the overall design thinking.” Ms Hu said.
