The future of Brisbane’s waterfront is set to transform, with a visionary precinct announced last month. As the corporate hub of the CBD, Eagle Street is a premium business and leisure destination. This is proposed to be revitalised into the Waterfront Precinct, a $1.4 billion project encapsulating 1.5 hectares of public and riverfront open space.
The market-led proposal by Dexus received the green light from the Queensland Government to progress to stage 2 of the assessment with a full feasibility study of the redevelopment. As a lead consultant for the precinct Place Design Group are excited to be working with Dexus on what will be a city changing project that will not only drive significant economic growth, but will provide major public space across a premium location for locals and visitors alike to experience and enjoy.
Including heritage listed Naldham House, Waterfront Plaza, the Gold Tower, Eagle Street Pier, and Eagle Street, the site can transform into a people-focused precinct, providing a space and a place for the next generation of city users. A new Riverwalk with safer walking and cycling tracks will be included with 7 day a week activation. Working alongside Matt Moran, the current restaurant precinct will be re-imagined to provide a new superior offering.
