Place Design Group was engaged by Georges River Council to redefine the urban design for Hurstville City Centre. The design brief ensued to revitalise the city centre by redefining the public spaces, creating a consistent design aesthetic, and reinforcing a sense of place within the town hub.

The key objective for the Hurstville City Centre revitalisation project was to strengthen the role of Hurstville as a key regional centre and gateway to Southern Sydney, providing an opportunity for the Georges River community to boost the local economy whilst supporting the future needs of a diverse, growing, and multicultural community into a thriving centre.

The project resulted in revitalising and expanding the public domain, strengthening the distinct identity of Hurstville Centre and the beautification of the streetscape character and open space.

The overall visitor experience was improved, whilst we implemented enhanced greening within the city centre to contribute to creating a space that is both functional for daily use whilst maintaining its ceremonial function with a cenotaph memorial.
