Place Design Group is on the lookout for a talented Visual Designer to join our growing Visual Design Team. Whether you’re an emerging designer ready to grow, or a seasoned visual communicator looking to take the lead—we’re open to shaping this role around you.
Our team of visual storytellers take a place-led approach to brand, digital and environmental design, to elevate visual experiences for people that create great places. Who you are
You are a creative at heart, a great communicator, compassionate and efficient. You love to collaborate and get things done. You love to be involved in projects from the start through workshops, site visits, creative sessions and designing beautiful visual work. You thrive in a studio environment where every day is different jumping on projects for clients that may include anything from branding, publication design, motion design, videos, digital outcomes, illustrative mapping to signage.
About the Role
Depending on your experience and goals, you could take on an emerging Visual Designer, contributing across:
- Become the go-to visual designer for creative, innovative design work
- Create concepts and deliver outcomes from branding, publication design, motion design, videos, digital outcomes, illustrative mapping to signage
- Create branding concepts including style guidelines and design templates
- Translate technical information into user friendly diagrams, infographics, iconography and dynamic visual outputs
- Develop our visual and digital library of design assets
- Strategic visual storytelling that aligns with project briefs and brand standards
- Work on marketing briefs to elevate the Place Design Group brand
- Internal training and mentoring
- Maintain excellent working relationships with our teams across all our offices
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants at emerging, and senior stages. The right candidate will show:
- Qualifications in Visual design/ communications or a similar field
- Strong visual design and communication experience
- A portfolio showcasing creative, technically sound, and project-relevant design work
- High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop essential)
- Sound knowledge of design fundamentals
- Experience in proposal/tender design and document layout is a plus
- Experience in developing creative and strategic outcomes across print/ digital from concept to completion
- You have top-notch organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads, multitask and meet tight deadlines under pressure
- Comfort engaging directly with our leadership team, clients or leading visual components of projects
- A collaborative attitude with a commitment to quality, innovation, and deadlines
- You are motivated, collaborative and love to take some initiative
Bonus Points For:
- Experience working in or with architecture, landscape architecture, or planning studios
- Skills in After Effects and Premiere Pro
- Interactive and digital design
- Wayfinding and signage
- Motion design and video production
- Interest in industry events, design trends, and continuous improvement
- Familiarity with ISO9001 or other QA processes (particularly for senior roles)
