Place Design Group’s Planning Scheme Code Interpretation animation has been shortlisted by the Planning Institute of Australia as a finalist in the ‘Best Planning Ideas – Small’ award category.
Commissioned by the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, the seven and half minute animated video explains key planning concepts of the Queensland Government Planning Scheme Code in a simplistic and innovative way to assist in understanding requirements when lodging a development application.
Planning in urban areas involves a complex array of sometimes confusing terms and concepts – zones, infrastructure and servicing, setbacks and building design. This work illustrates fundamental planning concepts and development controls in an easy to follow, navigable and visually engaging format to assist in demystifying planning and development to the broadest relevant audiences and building basic understanding of processes under Queensland planning legislation.
The Planning Scheme Code Interpretation video is a timely contribution to the maturing of planning processes as it is an interface that doesn’t currently exist in the planning industry and closes a marked gap between policy and development for stakeholders.
The video can accessed through the link below and on the Queensland Government website. The winner of the award category will be announced later in the year.
