Leading design and planning consultancy PLACE Design Group have taken out the Creative Industries Award at the 2014 Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards.
Awarded by Queensland Premier Campbell Newman at a gala event in Brisbane last night, PLACE Design Group were recognised as Creative Industry leaders, awarded for their outstanding international success.
Mr Newman said winners and finalists of the awards represented Queensland’s growing pool of international talent. “Queensland is an exporting state reliant on its place in the international economy, and the awards showcase some of the expertise that is putting Queensland on the global map.”
2014 represents the 25th year of the Premier of Queensland Export Awards – a history of acumen, adversity, diversity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. Providing an enormous return to the Queensland economy, last year alone Queensland’s exports were worth almost $45 billion, a five-fold increase from 25 year ago.
Having been operating for almost 14 years, PLACE Design Group has been growing from strength to strength, not only in the local Australian market, but throughout Asia. As leaders in landscape architecture, urban design, master planning, strategic planning, and development services, the group now boasts over 100 staff across their five offices in China and South East Asia. Place Design Group’s export market is extremely important to their sustainability and growth, with this market achieving an annual turnover of over $11million in 2013.

The Creative Industries Award comes off the back of winning the prestigious Optus Business Platinum Award at the 2014 Lord Mayors Business Awards. This is definitely an exciting time for Place Design Group, having recently secured some of the most interesting and in-demand projects in Australia and Internationally, the likes of which include Brisbane’s City West Urban Renewal Studies, Qingdao Foreshore (11ha site in Qingdao Shandong Province), and the Volcanic Rock Foreshore and Parkland urban design (54ha development at Xiamen, China).
