Jezzine Barracks is a 15 hectare site north of Townsville’s CBD and The Strand precincts that was previously home of the local traditional owner clans, the Bindal and Wulgurukaba people, and then used by the Defence Force as their barracks for over 120 years.

Thanks to the handover of the land by the Department of Defence, the site has now been transformed into a public parkland. The multi award winning project design features an amphitheatre, recreational facilities, coastal boardwalk, bridges, and all abilities pedestrian paths and is extensively used for recreational pursuits by the local community and, with its extensive interpretive plaques and artworks, acts as a significant tourist drawcard for locals and visitors alike.
