The Sheraton Dameisha Resort, (now named the InterContinental Shenzhen Dameisha Resort) landscape project was initially designed by Place Design Group in 2004. In September 2018, the Super Typhoon Mangkhut caused major damage to the pool area, with the client re-engaging Place Design Group to design a modern, comfortable and elegant resort-style hotel garden and pool area, ensuring the refurbishment could sustain extreme weather events in the future.

This opportunity allowed Place Design Group to enhance the landscape offering by exploring how guests currently used and interacted with the space. This guided the direction for the pool’s redesign and the incorporation of a multitude of areas for varied functions and activities, including recreational pavilions along the beach edge, improved access to internal function space, large children’s pool and surrounding lounge areas for supervision and relaxation.

The finished project represents how design expertise combined with a strong client relationship can create a successful and sustainable project outcome for hotel guests to enjoy for years to come.
