Sunshine Plaza Redevelopment – Amaroo Place

Amaroo Plaza is the front entry forecourt to the Sunshine Plaza retail precinct in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast.

Place Design Group were engaged to provide the landscape design to create an entry space for people to relax, meet, and to cater for bands, markets and food vans. The design focused on creating a strong connection to place; an abstraction of existing landscape forms, patterns and textures; to interpret local landscape themes such as the mountains, hinterland, canopy and water, as well as providing natural feel as opposed to urban. To inform material, detail, colour and form, the design team took inspiration from the geologic formations and striations of the nearby Pincushion Island.

This entry plaza is just one of the new exciting areas Place Design Group is designing in the Sunshine Plaza precinct, including the Cornmeal Creek Playground and Creekside boardwalk areas.
