Airlie Beach Lagoon is a 4,000 square meter saltwater lagoon, located on the foreshore within the Whitsunday Islands – a signature tourist attraction within the region.

Place Design Group was engaged to design the Airlie Beach Lagoon and associated parklands. The integration of a number of public art elements has given a unique twist to the project which provides year round recreational opportunities in summer where swimming is restricted by stinger activity.

The coastal planting adjacent the lagoon and the large shade sail over the toddlers’ pool provide pockets of shade for the benefit of the lagoon users.
