Set to become the premier destination for zero-depth water and inclusive play for Canterbury Bankstown municipality.
A state-of-the-art splash water play park developed by the City of Canterbury Bankstown Council as a premier western destination for zero-depth water and inclusive play. The recreational area combines water play, dry play, and recreational areas with architecturally designed amenities buildings.
Situated in Roberts Park in Greenacre, NSW, it was established for the Canterbury Bankstown municipality as an all-ages, all-abilities play space. Utilising water and spray activities as a key highlight, with dry play inclusions (adventure, discovery play elements, climbing) to benefit the health and well-being of the local community by providing opportunities for social connection and entertainment.
The $6 million Greenacre splash park activated the previously underutilised north-east corner of Roberts Park. The community revitalisation project injects vitality into the local area, enhancing the community’s engagement via quality play activities with an innovative, year-round play space.
The design centred around the First Nations dreamtime story of ‘Tiddalick Daytime Dreaming’. Referenced throughout the design were elements including ’Tiddalick the Frog’ with frog feet engravings in play elements, lily pads and dreamtime patterning as the path of travel between wet and dry play as viewed from aerial vistas.
Our collaborative design approach with Council and key stakeholders allowed us to transform our ideas through the delivery of high-quality visualisations for community consultation, ensuring desired outcomes for the City of Canterbury Bankstown.
This seamless blend of innovation, community revitalisation, and cultural homage underscores the profound impact of the Greenacre Splash Water Play Park on the local community and surrounds.
