The Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens 2015 Masterplan explores diversification of the facilities and recreational opportunities provided by the expansion of the site and reviews the existing 2010 master plan.

Place Design Group were engaged as the principal consultant, leading a team of architects, civil, hydraulic, electrical, geotechnical and structural engineers, along with access, wetland, irrigation, horticultural and 3D graphics consultants. Major elements of the commission included the Meadowlands Centre, a new Gardens Arrival Experience, a Botanic Collection expansion, a Children’s’ Botanic Centre, Café upgrade and new site experiences such as bridges, lookout towers and platypus interpretation kiosks.

Through strong site knowledge and design expertise, Place Design Group successfully coordinated a fully integrated approach between architecture, landscape and interpretative consultants for the design, development, and delivery of the project.
