Place Design Group was engaged by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to design a Garden of Remembrance within the heritage listed Anzac Park on The Strand, Townsville.

The project required careful design to fit within the existing mature tree plantings within the park. The dedication walls were laid out to fit within the existing organic forms occurring within the park and are linked to a visitor’s shelter with seating and a water feature to provide a location for quiet reflection of past veterans.

The overall finished works sits peacefully under the overhead tree canopies that provide dappled light and a sense of tranquility to this commemorative space.
