Clever design developed beachfront parkland into a place that is experiencing overwhelming and ongoing public support
Townsville’s award winning foreshore redevelopment, The Strand is comprised of 2.1 kilometres of linear coastal parkland with majestic views over Cleveland Bay and Magnetic Island.
Place Design Group undertook the lead master planning role with the objective of designing a vibrant, colourful beachfront that offers a relaxing environment for users.
The promenade is the primary element that links many attractions, including playgrounds, exercise stations, the ever popular water park, picnic facilities and public art elements.
Restaurants, kiosks, surf lifesaving clubs, the Historic Tobruk Olympic Pool, and a saltwater swimming enclosure are also located along the Strand Promenade.
